Fortbridge AI exists because the organizations we already served kept asking the same question — how do we use this responsibly — and getting answers from firms that had never operated under real scrutiny.
Background
Why this arm exists
Fortbridge Group's clients operate in environments where a mistake is expensive and a poorly evidenced decision is worse. As those clients began adopting AI, a gap became obvious: the market was full of firms who could demonstrate a model and short on firms who could put one into a regulated operation and stand behind it afterwards.
Fortbridge AI was formed to close that gap. The practice combines software engineering with the assessment-first discipline the group already applied to sourcing, risk, and protective work. It is deliberately structured as its own arm, with its own specialists, rather than a service line bolted onto an advisory firm.
We serve institutional clients and commercial ones. The standards do not change between them. A growth company gets the same evaluation rigor as a government department — partly on principle, and partly because that rigor is what makes a system survive contact with real operations.
Operating Philosophy
Four positions we hold consistently.
These shape what we take on and how we deliver it. They occasionally cost us work, which is the point of publishing them.

The technology is not the point
Model selection is an implementation detail that will change within the year. What persists is whether the process was understood, the decision was evidenced, and the system was built to be maintained. We lead with the operation, not the stack.

We will say no
A meaningful share of proposed AI projects should be a process change, an integration, or nothing at all. Saying so early is cheaper for the client than a project that quietly underdelivers, and it is the reason our recommendations carry weight.

Autonomy is earned, not assumed
Agents are useful and genuinely change what a team can do. They are also over-applied. We deploy autonomy where the task is well-bounded and the failure mode is recoverable, and we keep a person in the loop where it is not.

No lock-in by construction
You own the source, the infrastructure, and the credentials. Every system is documented so your team or another vendor can operate it. If you continue with us, it should be because the work is good.
